Final Song of Defiance: Iranian Prisoners Sing Before Execution in Smuggled Video

A smuggled video from Iran’s Ghezel Hesar prison captures a haunting final act of defiance: six prisoners singing together moments before their execution.

The men—identified as political dissidents—were accused by Iranian authorities of involvement with an opposition group and charged with armed rebellion. Despite facing imminent death, they sang a resistance anthem, declaring that “the tyrant’s throne shall shatter.”

Reports indicate some of the prisoners had been tortured prior to their execution, and several left behind written messages urging others to continue resisting the regime.

Their deaths come amid a wider crackdown following nationwide protests, with thousands detained and an increasing number of executions reported by human rights groups.

The video, reportedly smuggled out of prison, has intensified global scrutiny of Iran’s use of capital punishment against protesters and political opponents.
