A secretly recorded video from inside an Iranian prison has revealed a powerful final act of resistance by a group of condemned prisoners, who sang together shortly before their execution.
The footage, reportedly filmed in the courtyard of Ghezel Hesar Prison, shows six men standing side by side, delivering a song of defiance against the country’s ruling authorities. The video is believed to have been captured in early 2026 and later smuggled out of the facility.
The individuals—identified as Vahid Baniamerian, Babak Alipour, Abolhassan Montazer, Pouya Ghobadi, Ali Akbar Daneshvarkar, and Mohammad Taghavi—had been accused of opposing the regime and were executed by hanging.
In the recording, the group can be heard chanting lyrics expressing resistance and sacrifice, vowing that tyranny would ultimately fall. Their performance has since circulated widely, drawing attention to their final moments and the broader political climate in Iran.
Human rights organizations have long criticized the country’s judicial practices, citing allegations of forced confessions, torture, and trials lacking due process. The executions come amid a wider crackdown following nationwide protests, during which thousands of people were detained and many faced severe punishments.
Reports indicate that the use of capital punishment has sharply increased during this period of unrest, with authorities accused of using executions as a deterrent against dissent.
The video has become a stark symbol of resistance, highlighting both the risks faced by protesters and the intensity of the government’s response to opposition.
