Street Exhibition in London, Manchester, and Bolton Calls for Urgent Action to Save Iran’s Brave Women and Youths

On February 1, 2025, in freezing weather conditions, the Iranian Academics Society organized a powerful and moving street exhibition across London, Manchester, and Bolton. The exhibition aimed to raise awareness about the dire situation in Iran, where courageous women, girls, and young activists are facing the threat of execution for standing up against systemic oppression and human rights abuses.

The exhibitions were strategically placed in high-traffic areas, drawing the attention of hundreds of passersby despite the biting cold. Vibrant banners and displays depicted the faces of some of those currently imprisoned, alongside messages highlighting the urgency of the situation. Heart-wrenching stories were shared about individuals who had been unjustly detained and sentenced to death simply for demanding basic freedoms and dignity.

The Iranian Academics Society urgently called on UK leaders to take immediate action by pressuring the Iranian government to halt executions and by supporting international campaigns aimed at ending these gross injustices. One of the key demands of the exhibition was for the UK government to leverage diplomatic channels to advocate for the rights of Iran’s political prisoners, particularly women and youths whose lives hang in the balance.

Throughout the day, a steady stream of supporters gathered, signing petitions demanding international intervention. Volunteers from the Iranian Academics Society engaged with attendees, providing detailed information about the human rights crisis in Iran and the specific cases of those facing execution. The petitions, addressed to both the UK Prime Minister and international human rights organizations, urged immediate diplomatic action to save lives and hold Iranian authorities accountable for their actions.

Many participants also made financial contributions to support awareness campaigns and legal efforts aimed at securing justice for imprisoned activists. Stalls set up at the exhibition offered informational leaflets, merchandise, and opportunities for individuals to write messages of solidarity that would be delivered to families of the detainees.

The atmosphere was both solemn and defiant. Despite the cold, there was a palpable sense of unity and determination among attendees. Songs of hope and resilience echoed through the streets as people linked arms in solidarity. A particularly moving moment came when a group of young women led the crowd in singing a Persian freedom anthem, symbolizing the unwavering spirit of Iranian women who continue to lead the fight for freedom despite immense personal risk.

“We cannot remain silent while brave women and young people in Iran face death for simply wanting the right to live freely,” said one participant in Manchester. “It’s our moral responsibility to stand with them and demand action from our leaders.”

The exhibition concluded with speeches from human rights advocates and members of the Iranian diaspora, who emphasized the importance of sustained international pressure. They reiterated that the fight for justice in Iran is not just an Iranian issue but a global human rights concern.

The Iranian Academics Society expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received and vowed to continue its efforts until meaningful change is achieved. “Today is just the beginning,” said a spokesperson. “We will not stop until every political prisoner is freed, and justice prevails.”

This impactful exhibition served as a stark reminder of the power of grassroots activism and international solidarity. It also highlighted the urgent need for global leaders to prioritize human rights and take a stand against the atrocities being committed in Iran.
