Geopolitical Struggle: The Regime vs. Iranian People’s Resistance

A pivotal conference at the British Parliament brought together prominent figures from the House of Commons and the House of Lords to discuss the escalating crisis in the Middle East. The event featured a video message from Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, and speeches from former U.S. Senator Robert Torricelli and former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Ambassador Lincoln Bloomfield, who contributed remotely.

Key speakers, including MP David Jones, MP Bob Blackman, Lord Singh, MP Jim Shannon, MP Martin Day, Baroness Uddin, Lord Whitty, Baroness Meacher, Baroness Eaton, and Lord Frank Field, addressed the urgent issue of terrorism perpetrated by the Iranian regime. The focus was particularly on the recent heinous attack on former EU Parliament First Vice President Mr. Alejo Vidal Quadras.

The conference participants called for specific actions against Tehran, urging the West to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. They also advocated for activating the snapback mechanism based on UN Security Council Resolution 2231, placing the Iranian regime under Chapter VII of the UN Charter, severing diplomatic ties with Tehran, and formally recognizing the Iranian people’s right to overthrow the oppressive regime.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi referenced a joint statement signed by 525 members of the Houses of Commons and Lords, supporting the recognition of the NCRI and designation of the IRGC. She highlighted the mullahs’ engagement in three wars: a war with the international community involving nuclear activities and drones, a regional war through proxy groups in Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Israel, and Gaza, and the most crucial war against the people of Iran.

Ambassador Lincoln Bloomfield, addressing the conference online, expressed skepticism about the official narrative surrounding recent hostilities involving Tehran. He questioned the lack of critical examination by media and analysts and dismissed claims that the Iranian regime was unaware of the impending attack. Bloomfield pointed to intercepted shiploads of weapons and high-level meetings between Iranian leaders and regional proxies.

Senator Robert Torricelli, connecting online, emphasized the interconnected nature of global problems and underscored the necessity of dealing with the Iranian regime to address conflicts in Palestine, Ukraine, North Korea, and Yemen. He stressed the importance of fully enforcing sanctions, designating terrorist organizations, and embracing the Iranian opposition.

MP Bob Blackman advocated for a firm policy against the Iranian regime, including proscribing the IRGC and placing the regime under Chapter 7 of the UN Charter. He emphasized the existence of a viable democratic alternative in the form of the NCRI and called for the UK to lead international efforts against Tehran.

MP David Jones detailed the regime’s warmongering strategy, providing cover for domestic repression and seeking political legitimacy on the international stage. He asserted that the real geopolitical battle is between the Iranian regime and its people, with the NCRI leading the organized resistance movement.

Baroness O’Loan called for the proscription of the IRGC, highlighting the regime’s interference in the UK and its activities in spreading influence through various means. She emphasized the need to act against the Iranian regime’s terrorism and investigate its activities.

MP Jim Shannon stressed the importance of designating the IRGC as a terrorist organization, closing the regime’s embassies, expelling its agents, and supporting the Iranian people’s struggle for freedom. He asserted that confronting the regime’s belligerence is crucial for peace and stability in the Middle East.

The conference witnessed various speakers expressing concerns about the Iranian regime’s actions, calling for decisive actions, and advocating support for the Iranian people’s quest for freedom and democracy. The consistent theme was the urgency of international intervention against the Iranian regime’s oppressive policies and its role in regional conflicts.
