The Force of Change: Iranian Youth Gather to Build a Free Iran

On Saturday, 25 October 2025, on the eve of the anniversary of the November 2019 uprising in Iran, a major gathering of Iranian youth supporters of the resistance was held across the diaspora under the banner of “Free Iran 2025.” Youth from European countries, the United States, Canada and Australia assembled, along with online observers including international political figures. The eight-hour event brought together youth delegates composed of athletes, engineers, professionals, lawyers, doctors, medical staff, students, academics and researchers, as well as families of martyrs and young people who had taken part in the uprisings of 2019 and 2022 inside Iran.

The core message delivered by Rajavi emphasised that the youthful generation of Iran is the driving force behind the uprisings and the broader struggle for freedom. She described this generation as “the architects of uprisings across Iran” and saluted them as “the force of change today and the force of hope for building a new Iran tomorrow.” According to her speech, this generation stands in defiance of the clerical regime, equipped by years of struggle and organised resistance.

Rajavi’s address underscored the continuity of struggle across generations. She referenced more than 60 years of resistance and the youthful warriors who are today forging the path toward the overthrow of the regime. She called upon Diaspora youth, as well as those inside Iran, to join the ranks of the organised resistance and contribute to the final battle for freedom.

The gathering also highlighted the broader context: rampant unemployment, poverty and deprivation, especially affecting young, educated Iranians who are denied access to resources and meaningful roles in society. Rajavi positioned the youth not merely as victims of the regime’s policies but as a revolutionary force whose creative energy and frustration serves as the volcano of uprising.

Furthermore, the message of the event painted two possible roads forward for Iran: either the perpetuation of the current regime, or a democratic revolution founded on popular vote and the rule of law. The youth gathering emphasised that the only viable path is the latter, and that young Iranians — at home and abroad — have a vital role to play in bringing it to fruition.

From a strategic perspective, the event sought to galvanise solidarity between Iranian youth in exile and activists within Iran, stressing the importance of organised units — resistance units — in reigniting mass uprisings and ultimately effecting change. The tone of the gathering was assertive and rallying: the youth were identified as the decisive force who must act now, not later, in order to bring about the end of tyranny and build a free and flourishing Iran.

In sum, the youth gathering underlined a powerful narrative: Iran’s young generation is awakening, mobilising, and readying itself for the final push toward freedom. They are connected to a long legacy of resistance, conscious of their historic mission, and determined to reclaim their country and rebuild it on the foundations of equality, democratic participation, and dignity. The event reinforced the message that this is not a passive movement of grievance, but a proactive, organised, and committed force — determined to bring the regime to its end and shape a new era for Iran.
