Iranian Security Forces Kill Amateur Boxer Near Tehran Amid Ongoing Protests

Iranian security forces have reportedly shot and killed a young amateur boxer during continuing anti-government protests near the capital city of Tehran, according to opposition sources.

The victim, Sepehr Ebrahimi, was 19 years old and participating in demonstrations against Iran’s clerical regime when he was struck by live gunfire from security personnel on January 11 in the Andisheh area, approximately 30 km west of central Tehran, Iranian opposition groups say.

The killing of Ebrahimi has drawn further international attention to the deadly crackdown by Iranian forces, which began on December 28, 2025 in response to widespread unrest fueled by political oppression, economic hardship and demands for greater freedoms.

In addition to this report, disturbing footage has been widely shared online showing a father desperately searching through stacks of body bags in a warehouse for his son, another young man reportedly shot by security forces in Tehran. The anguished father repeatedly calls out his son’s name amid the crowded morgue, reflecting the anguish of families affected by the violent response to protests.

Ali Safavi, a senior official with the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), confirmed to Fox News Digital that both Ebrahimi and the other youth were hit with live ammunition fired by state security forces.

The ongoing demonstrations and the state’s forceful suppression have resulted in significant casualties and drawn international concern over Iran’s handling of internal dissent.
